Green Hydrogen

A new way of living or also known as “New Normal” has become a catchword and our familiar way of life. To many of us, this situation is beyond speculation. The COVID-19 crisis causes colossal changes in many dimensions such as economic slowdown and shifts of consumers’ behaviors. Therefore, entrepreneurs need to adjust their business to survive these tides of changes. However, changes can attack us with no prior notice. To deal with uncertainties in any circumstances, we usually think of the term “Sustainability”.

The concept of sustainability is increasingly vital since the uncertainty of our future is noticeable during the pandemic. Sustainability is thus largely mentioned globally for its application to minimize risks, as well as a new paradigm in living

Developed countries are the pioneer in the adoption of sustainable energy that release lower carbon dioxide (CO2). Clean energies ensure sustainable growth that preserve ecology system

In Thailand, a group of leading companies including “BIG”, Thailand’s innovative industrial gas solutions company, collaborate to develop sustainable and environment friendly energy namely “hydrogen” power.

Hydrogen (H2) does not contain carbon compound that causes greenhouse gas. Hydrogen that passes through fuel cell generates electricity and emits only water as its byproduct. Importantly, the production process of this alternative energy is (better/different) from the process of electricity generating for power plants because it does not produce carbon dioxide emission. Hydrogen (H2) is clean and environment friendly.

However, the current production technology where natural gas is used as the raw material or “steam reforming” still emits carbon dioxide. It is largely known that carbon dioxide is a major cause of global warming. Therefore, both the developed countries and a group of leading companies in Thailand have put efforts to develop technologies to produce hydrogen as clean and sustainable energy and decrease carbon dioxide emission.

Green Hydrogen

Solar energy, which is clean energy, is also utilized in the process to separate hydrogen from pure water. This production process produces green hydrogen without CO2 emission. The produced hydrogen is passed through the fuel cell to be a source of energy for electricity generation.

Although the cost of green hydrogen production is rather higher than using the steam reforming process production, we are continuing to apply the advancement of recent technology to lower production cost. Therefore, the collaboration between the developed countries as well as the joined hands between BIG and Thailand’s leading companies can encourage the competitiveness of green hydrogen, which will eventually benefits energy users and the environment.
